第⼀(題名及著者敘述項)、二(版本項)、四(出版項)及六(集叢項)項的細目由作品本身取得, 因此, 在可能的情況, 應儘量使用作品本身的語文著錄; 解說該等項的資訊, 使用作品本身的語文, 置於方括弧內。例外的情形是:
- 規定的縮寫(見0.7)及規定的說明(見0.10及0.11);
- 資料類型標示(見1.2)及經銷者職責敘述(見4.3), 應以國家書目機構或其他編目機構選定的語文為準。 第三項著錄的語文, 由各相關的ISBD規定。
第五(稽核項)、第七(附註項)及第八(標準號碼及其他必要記載項)項使用的術語, 不必置於方括弧內, 應以國家書目機構或其他編目機構選定的語文為準。例外的情形是:
- 在第七(附註項)項裡引⽤到的書名;
- 第七(附註項)項裡⽤到的引句;
- 第⼋(標準號碼及其他必要記載項)項裡的識別題名。
作品不是國家書目機構或其他編目機構選定的語文, 必要時, 可以直接翻譯或轉述為該等機構使⽤的語文, 不必置於方括弧內。
除了連續出版品的正題名(⾒ISBD(CR) 1.1.5.1), 錯誤的字句應照錄, 緊接著在⽅括弧內著錄sic字樣( [sic] )。也可以把正確的字句置於⽅括弧內, 並在其之前加i.e.(id est), 或其他語文書的相關字句。被省略的字母或數字, 可以直接加在方括弧內, 前後不需空格。

statement of responsibility
one or more names, phrases or groups of characters relating to the identification and/or function of any persons or corporate bodies responsible for or contributing to the creation or realisation of the intellectual or artistic content of a work. Statements of responsibility may occur in conjunction with titles (e.g. the title proper, parallel titles, titles of individual works contained in the resource, titles in series/subseries statements) or in conjunction with edition statements
